Questions about Calm Pass
Still wondering where to start? Try the Threshold Finder. It takes 30 seconds.
The plan
How much time does it take each day?
About 10–20 minutes of walking plus 5 minutes of games at home. You pick 10, 20 or 30 minutes a day and the plan fits to that.
How is the plan built around my dog?
A short quiz sets your dog’s starting distance, the version of the plan you get, and how many games fit your day. Each week the target distance moves closer, holds, or backs off, based on the walks you log.
What if I live in a city?
There’s a City version of the plan. It swaps open-field setups for parked cars, doorways and other barriers you already walk past.
What does a week look like?
Each week unlocks a module of short video lessons (3–8 minutes each). Every lesson ends with one practice task, which shows up on your Today screen with a walk plan at your dog’s distance.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Calm Pass runs in your phone’s browser, so the walk plan, the walk log and the U-turn drill card are with you on the walk. You can add it to your Home Screen.
How long do I keep access?
For life, including your walk log and any updates to the lessons.
Safety and methods
What equipment do I need?
A front-clip harness, a regular or long leash, a treat pouch and some high-value food. No special collars. We never use prong, choke or shock collars.
What methods does Calm Pass use?
Reward-based methods only: distance, food, pattern games like Look At That, U-turns, and management such as route choice and visual barriers. This follows the AVSAB position statement on humane dog training.
Do I need a trainer?
Not for most dogs who react to other dogs on leash. If your dog has a bite history, reacts to people, or changed suddenly, work with a certified professional first. You can use Calm Pass alongside them.
My dog is reactive to people. Will this help?
No. Calm Pass covers dog-to-dog leash reactivity only. Please work with a certified behavior consultant or a veterinary behaviorist.
My dog has bitten before. Can I still use it?
Please work with a certified behavior consultant or veterinary behaviorist first. Before any lesson unlocks, a short safety check points you to the right help and unlocks the muzzle comfort lessons for free. You can use Calm Pass alongside a professional, or ask for a full refund.
The reactivity started suddenly. What should I do?
See your vet first. Pain and other medical problems can change behavior, and a vet should rule them out before you start any training plan.
Is this a cure?
No. It’s a plan to practice calmer walks. Results vary with each dog, how often you practice, and where you walk.
